Key Takeaways

• DTI publishes a Noche Buena price guide every year, usually in mid-November. It is a guide, not a price cap: these items are not covered by the Price Act.

• In the 2025 guide, ham ran ₱170–₱945 and queso de bola ₱211–₱470. Most items that moved went up 1–6%.

• DTI's sample basket for a family of four (ham, spaghetti, macaroni salad, fruit salad, pandesal) came to about ₱526 in 2025, at the cheapest brands and smallest sizes.

Last updated: November 2026. The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) publishes a Noche Buena price guide every year, usually in mid-November. The 2026 guide is not out yet. Until it is, this page shows the 2025 guide's prices so you can start planning, and we will update it with the 2026 figures as soon as DTI releases them.

The guide is not a price cap. Ham, queso de bola, and the rest are not basic necessities under the Price Act, so stores can price above it. Use it as a benchmark: if a shelf price is far above the range, compare brands or try another store.

Noche Buena Price Guide (2025 figures)

ItemPrice range
Ham₱170–₱945
Queso de bola₱211–₱470
Cheese₱16.50–₱310
Fruit cocktail₱61.76–₱94.41
All-purpose cream₱36.50–₱72.00
Nata de coco₱52.50–₱62.50
Kaong₱76.50–₱84.00
Mayonnaise₱20.40–₱245.85
Sandwich spread₱12–₱263.30
Pasta / spaghetti₱27–₱116.75
Elbow macaroni₱24–₱128.15
Salad macaroni₱36.50–₱128.15
Spaghetti sauce₱25–₱108.25
Tomato sauce₱16.75–₱92.25

The ranges are wide because they span brands and pack sizes, from a small sachet to a family pack. Nata de coco and kaong were new categories in 2025.

What Changed in 2025

  • Most items that moved went up 1–6%. About half of the guide's products held their 2024 prices.
  • Six items were rolled back after DTI talked to manufacturers, including:
  • CDO American Style Ham (500g): ₱174 → ₱170
  • King Sue Piña Ham: ₱527 → ₱520 (800g), ₱643 → ₱637 (1kg)
  • Danes Queso de Bola (500g): ₱310 → ₱300

For comparison, the 2024 guide had ham at ₱170–₱928.50 and queso de bola at ₱210–₱445, so the top end crept up while the cheapest options stayed put.

DTI's ₱500 Noche Buena Basket

In 2025 DTI said a family of four could do Noche Buena for about ₱500. Its sample basket:

DishCost
Christmas ham₱170
Spaghetti (noodles ₱30, sauce ₱48.50)₱78.50
Macaroni salad (macaroni, mayonnaise, cheese)₱152.44
Fruit salad (fruit cocktail, all-purpose cream)₱98.25
Pandesal, 10 pcs₱27.75
Totalabout ₱526

It is possible on paper, but only with the cheapest brand and smallest size of everything. Pick a bigger ham from the guide's upper range, add queso de bola, or a second dish, and the total climbs fast: a 1kg King Sue Piña Ham alone is ₱637.

The ₱500 figure drew heavy criticism in late 2025 from lawmakers, consumer groups, and celebrities, and some people tried it for themselves. Actress Mariel Padilla's attempt came to ₱619. It was not the first time: in 2022, a DTI estimate of about ₱1,000 got the same reaction.

Will Noche Buena Prices Go Up in 2026?

In October 2026, DTI said basic goods would hold their prices until December 31, but Noche Buena items were not part of that commitment. DTI said it would talk to manufacturers separately before announcing anything on Christmas products. Expect the answer with the 2026 price guide.

How to Keep Noche Buena on Budget

  • Write the menu first, then the list. Price each item against the guide before you go, and set one total for the whole spread.
  • Buy shelf-stable items early. Pasta, sauce, fruit cocktail, cream, and mayonnaise keep for months, and prices tend to rise closer to December.
  • Compare pack sizes, not just brands. The per-gram price of a 1kg ham or a family-size mayonnaise is often lower.
  • Split the shop. Packaged goods at Puregold or SM, fresh fruit and vegetables at the palengke.
  • Track as you go. The running total in your cart is what keeps a ₱2,000 plan from becoming ₱4,000 at the counter.
